i have developed a program (on win 95) which has a number of full-screeen
bmps (8 bit) and 24 bit jpgs. in 16 bit and 8 bit monitor settings, the
images appear off-color. however, this was not the case with ver 2.2, where
all images looked ok on 16 bit and 24 bit. (in 2.3, they look prefect on 24
bit)

can i use a shell command to prompt a user (at the start of the program) to
change the display settings to 24 bit and (preferably) 800*600?

is there any other way to display these images perfectly?

thanks for any suggetsions.
