Next background?

Can anyone help me with the ins and outs of the "next" keyword:

The following works fine:

    1) answer the short name of next card

While:

    1) answer the short name of next background

Works in HyperCard but not Metacard. Is a there a way of phrasing this or do
I have to resort to looking at the number of the current background, adding
1 etc?
