Yup. I make my stacks on a Mac, but use .wavs for all
my sounds (if I ever do decide to port the project to
windows) .

QuickTime on Mac (2.5, maybe even 2.0, and later) plays
wav files nicely. I think the "play" command should
play wav files, too... but if they're encoded strangely
at all, it will just play static. Compressed wav files
won't play... at least of one compression... someone
else knows more about this than me, let them talk! :)

Every Mac with QuickTime installed will be able to play
your wav files (when called with the player or
playmovie(is that it?) command). Aiff, wavs, and lots
of other sounds will all work fine.
