Could someone explain how MC determines stack height on a Mac when
editmenus are false? I've been struggling with this for a year and a
half and I still don't get it.

I have a resizeable substack that has a menu group. I display it as
modal, and it looks okay. When I need to work on it I toplevel it from
the message box, but then the bottom shrinks so that some of the objects
are cut off. If I modal it again, it shrinks some more. If I continue to
alternate between toplevel and modal it shrinks on each call, and if I
do that enough times there is almost nothing left. I am not changing the
editmenu setting at all, it is always false.

How come it won't stay put? What are the rules?
