Re playing compressed cached movies and sounds. . .you said:

But we know this works for a movie that gets downloaded:

on mouseUp
  global href1 # where we know the movie is already cached
  play videoclip url href1
  unload url href1
end mouseUp

so what we are saying is that you _cannot_

set the filename of player theMovie to  URL
"http://someMovieThatWeKnowIsCachedNow."

But then perhaps there is never a need to do this since you can simply play
the videoclip right out of the cache whenever you needed it.
