When you save a stack, MetaCard builds a new file with the changes you have
made. In order to do that safely, it must first duplicate the stack. So
during a save, it creates a file with a ~ on the end, e.g. "myStackName~".
If your machine crashes or something else goes wrong during the save
process, your original stack (before saving) is still safe in this file.
Once a save is complete, the backup file is deleted.
The message you are getting says it can't open that file. That typically
means: either the save failed before - so that file is left behind; or there
isn't write permission to create such a ~ file; or the number of characters
in your file name is too long to create a file with ~ on the end; or there
isn't enough disk space or other similar error. You need to check through
these possibliites to find out what the problem is.

Hm - sounds like an anomoly or possibly a bug. At least worthy of
investigation: I recommend sending a sample GIF that shows this problem to
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
