I know I'm reviving an old thread, but I haven't found a satisfactory
answer to this one. I have ported the icon I made on my Mac for my
standalone to Windows. Since my original icon used 256 colors, I had
to change it to 16 colors to adhere to the icon size limitation in
the standalone builder. Unfortunately, the resulting icon is not
acceptable - I really need the full 256 colors to make it look good.

In the previous thread, Scott R. implied that we could fix such
problems with in-place icon editors like AX Icons. However, this
solution doesn't seem to work, since AX Icons won't let me change the
format of an executable's icon or allow me to create a new icon in
the executable. Has anyone else found a solution for getting 256
color icons for their Windows standalones?
