Overriding background group behaviour...

I used to create background objects (in particular background fields), who's
behaviour I new I could override on a particular card by using a card
handler to intercept the message, and hence it's default behaviour.

What technique is the best to use in Metacard? I was thinking of taking the
card script and adding it to the frontScript?
