"Loc" refers to the center of an object. What you wanted was "topleft"

Use "set the left of stack ..."

MetaCard has several different ways of referencing the position of an
object:

top, bottom, left, right

topleft, topright, bottomleft, bottomright, and loc (the center).

MetaCard, however .... Well, while I have never met Scott personally, I
would say that he couldn't have made such a fine product if he was spaced
out.
