Here's what I was trying to do:

1. set the filename of an image object to a jpeg file.
2. check to see if the jpeg is bigger than I want to display
3. if it's bigger, scale the image object down proportionately so 
that the image fits within my size requirements
4. if it's not bigger, have the image display the file at its native size.

It wasn't working. The image didn't resize until it displayed, 
causing strange results. After a little gnashing of teeth I 
discovered the alwaysBuffer property, which is now my very good 
friend. Setting the alwaysBuffer of the image object fixed my problem 
right up.
