The same average for static html pages sites.
For databases serving, it depends :
- a 2500 books references read-only database served over the web in using HC or
MC will need about 4 Mo of different datas, indexs, html, ssi files to run (no
including about 200 ko of HC/MC scripting) to run fast and fine.
- a 120 clients database served and writable over the web in using MC will need
about 6 Mo of different datas, indexs, html, ssi files to run (no including
about 300 ko of MC scripting) to run fast and fine.
- a 60000 books references read-only database served over the web in using
Lasso/FileMaker will need about 50 Mo to run very slow.
- a MySQL read/write database will need a minimum of 20 Mo of disk space to be
installed but will be able to serve lots of datas (up to 2 Go of refs) very
fast.
- i don't know about PostGreSQL (seems to be a more powerfull system than MySQL
is).
- a WebSphere/IBM DB2 web application server/database read/write system will
need a minimum of 120 Mo of disk space to be installed but supports illimited
databases size and is able to serve them fast and secure (processors and datas
clustering).
- an oracle 8i read-only database will need a minimum of 250 Mo of disk space to
be installed (without any web applications server, even the new Oracle's one)
but supports illimited databases size and is able to serve them fast and secure
(processors and datas clustering).
Nothing to say about the to unsecure and poor Microsoft WinNT/ASP/SQLServer
system...
