One thing I note from the cursor that you posted is that it is in color - MC
only supports black and white cursors (though you might be able to use color
cursors with some external).  Try importing the cursor (on the Mac it should
be 16x16) then painting into the image and undoing the changes - to make MC
save the image in its internal format.  If you check the colors there should
be three lines - black, white and one for the transparent color.  If this is
not the case the image won't work as a cursor.
