     Thanks for your reply Monte.  I found a different solution (and 
cause) to the problem, which may be of interest to you.  I had placed a 
call to a sub-handler just before the "answer file" command, and that 
sub-handler had a "lock screen" command in it without an accompanying 
"unlock screen" at the end of it.  Throwing in "unlock screen" killed the 
ghost.
