It's still a stack, located on the hard drive. The aiff files are very
large and being stored on and read from a CD.

MetaCard has the default 5 megs but as I understand it, QT will draw RAM
from the system as needed. Note that on my Macs, that 5 megs is enough
to produce flawless audio playback. It is only the client's machines
that have a problem. I've asked him to try running with only the base
extension set to see if there may be some other background operation
going on at the same time (like virus checking, for example) but I
haven't heard yet how that went.

No, these are just aiff files. No video. They are not displayed either;
the player object remains invisible.

AlwaysBuffer is false. I would think it was a processor issue too,
except that HyperCard can play these files just fine with the Movie
XCMD. It may be that the XCMD doesn't allocate as much time to other
processes though as MC does.
