Hi everyone,

For those on the list who requested (and have waited very patiently) to see
our artificially intelligent adaptive instructional system called
MediaMatrix (currently delivering content and testing services for the
college/university Introductory Psychology market) authored in Metacard,
visit us at:

www.psych-ai.com

Sign-up/down-load a free "evaluation copy" by following the "Evaluation
Copies" link on our home page. This is our last beta version and our
marketing to college instructors will start in May, so if you find problems
or have any constructive feedback on design, interface, etc. for us we'd
appreciate hearing from you (send off-list to [EMAIL PROTECTED]). Actually,
this is our fourth semester of testing various versions and it makes about
3,000 students total who have used it while we completed our transitional
development from OMO/CD-ROM to Metacard/Internet versions over the past two
years. (Just for clarification, we don't sell our MediaMatrix engine for
others to do content authoring, we sell mastery-certification services for
content authored by us and others that we publish via MediaMatrix).

Also linked from the home page is "Product Info" describing how/why
MediaMatrix works as it does, a "What's AI" white paper discussing our
philosophy on replacing simple "information" with individually-sensitive
"education" on the internet, and a complete "User Guide" showing you how to
get to all the features of this particular product.

Sorry it took so long to deliver, but we've just finally weaned ourselves
from CD-ROM delivery of even the Metacard version's content (student
services and modeling was the first server-database governed feature,
content from the servers came last). We are currently hard at work on
making a similar transition from HyperCard/Toolbook to MC for our
interactive video animal-learning simulation product (CyberRat) now that
more robust video tools are available in MC. That product will be a hybrid
CD (for the interactive video) and internet product.

By the way, we are especially interested in hearing from you if you have
trouble with initial connectivity--about 1% of our student users do using
our "post url" version. In this case, definitely try our "sockets" version
(of course you may anyway....) which is available at from an unlinked
address at:

www.psych-ai.com/getSockets.html

and we'd be interested in hearing whether that solves your problems or not
(it has solved all but 2 such student cases tested so far, but we still
don't have a bullet-proof solution for those 2. We get failures on the very
first internet call (and thus any others as well) that looks for a "pointer"
file on a master server that directs traffic to our other "service" servers.
Even this simple file download fails in the meanest cases. We assume
proxy/firewall issues are at work, but it happens from home computers
mostly. Any ideas on this problem will be appreciated as well.

Enjoy!
Roger
