I don't rely on it these days, but it is a useful extra testing ground.

Depends what you mean - but on Virtual PC on my G3 with 55Mb of RAM
all my Quicktime movies play, though the bigger ones do not play as
well as on my G3. But then I wouldn't expect them to.

How big are your movies and how much RAM do you have?
To give you an idea, I do test my stuff on an old Apple 586 PC card
with 16Mb of RAM. Quicktime 4 isn't supposed to work on that but my
smaller QT movies still work there. So if *nothing* of yours plays
then I think they must be rather large and needy. Are you simply
trying to play them in Quicktime - or from Metacard?

Well, I eventually followed Scott's advice and bought a proper PC and
I haven't regretted it!
The young mum next door has bought for her young ( < 10 years old)
sons a better machine than I use for my development - so who is to
say what is cheap and who is poor? And this is Wales where computers
are more expensive than in the US.
These days you can on any platform get amazing value for money
compared with what we got (for much more) 10 years ago, or even 3
years ago!
