I'm wondering if someone good at geometric math might be able to figure out
the following:  how to drag an object relative to the points of a
non-vertical ellipse (an oval which is rotated by some odd measurement).

I'm trying to make a slider control that consists of a small ball which a
user can drag along an elliptical path, rather than a straight line.  I'd
like the ball to be able to be dragged completely around the ellipse without
any stopping points -- in other words, be able to drag the ball infinitely
clockwise or counterclockwise, if this makes sense.

Many months back someone on this list or the SuperCard list was kind enough
to help me out with a mathematical script for dragging a control in a
circular movement, but the rotation only worked for half a circle.  This was
useful for a simple slider but I'd like to tackle something more complex
now, either via math, or even better by some means of tracking the points of
a polygon, since this would allow the slider control to follow any type of
path.

Can this be done?
