I have not received a mail from this list in the last four days. So, among other
things, this mail is to verify whether I am still subscribed to this list.

Let me take this opportunity though to announce FreeGUI. It's a set of all of the
dialogs, palettes, etc ... of HyperCard, in the form of editable MetaCard stacks, that
have been released as public-domain by the FreeGUI eGroup, at the following URL:

http://www.egroups.com/group/freegui

This will particularly interest those folks who have gravitated towards MetaCard from
a HyperCard background. The above is in fact a subsitute GUI that makes MetaCard
look-and-feel like HyperCard.

IMPORTANT NOTE: FreeGUI is currently in a 'beta' state. It is not quite a usable GUI
yet. All of the basic dialogs and such have been achieved, but some of the more arcane
ones (like EditIcon, for example) still need some substantive work, eg. there is no
genuine icon editing going on for example. FreeGUI also needs a few integrative
touches to make it into something that can genuinely replace MetaCard's native GUI (in
the works). To complete FreeGUI 1.x, and to transform it into HyperCard as we imagined
it was going to become, we are encouraging interested parties to participate in the
process, e.g. comments, suggestions, testing, debugging, scripting, etc. IOW, FreeGUI
is a collaboration.

Here's a suggestion/request to get the collaboration ball rolling: How about posting a
quick comment concerning the desirability (or lack thereof) of having an
alternative-GUI-for-MetaCard that looks-and-feels like HyperCard as we know it now
and/or as we would like HyperCard to become.
