Thanks, Tuviah, for the response

Sorry, if I was unclear. I thought this was obvious in the context. The
"substack" I referred to was the modal dialog opened with the "answer
effect" command (as described in the 2.4 readme file) that shows "Select
Effect..." in its title, has the "Save" and "Load" buttons, the effects'
preview window etc.
I first assumed it was a new Metacard substack, so by opening it
"toplevel" I could have had a look at how the special parameters
(zoomcenter, horizontal and vertical repeats etc.etc.) could be passed
inside Metacard for the effects that can be seen in the preview window.
I see that the modal dialog is presumably some form of the Quicktime
"QTCreateStandardParameterDialog" that can now be opened from Metacard
with "answer effect".

Good to know! This is nowhere documented in the Metacard or Revolution
help files and should be definitely be added. By the way; we should add
a keyword "player" in the "index", the "players" card can only be
accessed (from the index) with the keyword "Quicktime, playing".

Such information or a link could also be added.

This is probably a question for the person(s) presently engaged in
opening the cornucopia of Quicktime effects for us.-
Could it be that the "four-character-codes" <4CC> described in the 2.4
readme are really the abbreviations for the *special* parameters (like
the "zoomcenter" parameter etc. I asked for) as they are listed in the
Quicktime effects pages - see your link above - and *not* the
substitutes for the effect names?

So these buttons are at present of no use inside Metacard. The function
of the effects dialog then is to provide us with lists of effects -
where the option numbers must be retrieved after closing the dialog
using the msg - and giving us a *foretaste* through the preview window
of the possibilities of using special parameters that can not yet be
accessed from Metacard.
We might need a special Metacard substack after all.
