IMO the graphics features are stable, though I found a couple of "unusual"
behaviors that I pointed out to Raney and Co -- still waiting to hear back
if these are expected or bugs.
Anyone who has been waiting for better graphics capabilities in MC should be
loving PNG import with full alpha channel support and variable opacity
(blendLevel) control. Perhaps the only drawback is that the PNG format can
be a bit heavy from a filesize standpoint (you can only affect the opacity
of image objects, not draw objects), but the results are great. We can now
create "real" translucent dropshadows, variably translucent regions, and
controls can also be moved while the aforementioned properties are affected,
making for some great visual effects.
Wishlist: Currently, movement of translucent objects can sometimes be a bit
choppy but acceptable for a first implementation. If possible, perhaps MC
Corp would consider a synchMoves property to synch the movement of objects
with the refresh rate of the display. Don't know if this would require
sacrificing responsiveness but if this could be set as a global property, it
could make for some good (read: smooth) animation.
Regards,
Scott
