I did the same test before (there must be a post about that in the list archive)
and found that there was a speed problem on the "sockets listener" ablities of
mc (mc and cmc on WINNT4 SP5, mc on Linux). If you use an .asp or, best, a .php
script instead (php is 200% faster than asp under win32), you will speed up your
mc-based WAS to many more best results than what you could get in using .asp
scripts to speak to an Microsoft SQLServer or an other SQL Datas source (tested
in using MSSQL 6.5 and MySQL 3.22).

I got the same (twice, for for what i seen) better speed results in using
Linux/Apache/PHP/MC/MySQL than in using WinNT4/IIS4/PHP/MC/MSSQL or
WinNT4/IIS4/PHP/MC/MySQL or WinNT4/Apache/PHP/MC/MySQL.

In others words, Linux/Apache/PHP/MC/MySQL will be 400% faster than
WinNT4/IIS4/ASP/MC/MSSQL

Second : If your MacOS or Linux or LinuxPPC based Internet Server is cleanly
configured, it will never go down...., where you will get a "blue screen" on
your Win32 based Internet Server, with an average of two times a month (with
just the message "memory out of range... and so on).

If you don't want to compile your VBScript app in using the Visual C++ compiler
(but does this only work ?), it's no way to build a real WAS in using VBScript.
On the other hand, Metacard can do it, just alike some others WAS development
tools, like WebObjects, ColdFusion or WebSphere.
