I've been trying to install MC (the starter kit) on two different
Windows systems. The first was on a laptop, and the installation was
perfect. I go to the desktop and it isn't working at all. The install
doesn't get past the initial directory creation (...Program
Files/MetaCard/). I then get a message saying that setup is
complete--but it isn't. The only thing in the new directory is a file
named delsL1.isu. So, with that directory in place, I run the install
program a second time. The same thing happens except I get an setup
error message that says that the directory doesn't exist. Then, a new
file, named delsL2.isu, is added to the directory.
I've erased the directory and run the install again, but the same thing
happens every time. I've downloaded from MC and from the mirror site, so
I'm sure the issue is on my end.
The only difference between the two systems is the OS. The laptop is
Win98, and the desktop in WinME. Is this the problem? I tried searching
both sets of archives and couldn't find a thing about this. If the issue
isn't with WinME...what could it be? AS I said, MC on the laptop (Win98)
works great. I only installed it on there after it continually failed on
the desktop. I'd just prefer to run it on the desktop.
Any helpful words out there?
