Right now Valentina developers do next: 1) use trick open/close. In this way Valentina is able keep 20-30 users. 2) write own server part and client part and handle networking. I have hear that MetaCard can allow build server in 5 minutes. So this should not be show stopper for MC developers. We are going start direct Server development in May.
