Solomon meant by this, do doubt, that stacks that use idle heavily tend to consume CPU cycles and get sluggish.
BTW, if a more timely refresh is needed in a clock or other GUI display, the more repetitive send-cycle handler can check whether the data has changed and only update the control only if it has.
