This is a feature request/question: The metacard and revolution documentation clearly state that (apparently because of system requirements?) it is impossible to save changes made within a standalone.
I presume there is no workaround to this other than distributing a copy of the MC engine with the stack as a runtime module. I think that it would be better, if possible, to have standalones be able to save to themselves. This is because end-users will want things "simple" and not to have to worry about keeping their stack and runtime module in the same folder. Is there any workaround planned for this limitation? Is it better to market metacard stacks as standlones (I think so) or is it better to market metacard as a stack browser (I'm not sure)? I think the hypercard player was actually a mistake. I also think apple's failure to integrate hypercard into the WWW was also a major mistake. I'm forced to deal with anemic javascript and half baked data when it is clear that metacard is superior at data management than javascript.
