I have just uploaded one, not particularly satisfactory solution to the Lexicall repository "PICTORIAL TEXT.rev".
This is based in an idea from Jeanne deVotot in 2004 - it presents lovely, readable text that will remain the same across any platform (because it isn't text at all) - but, of course, it demands quite a kick more memory than standard fields.
