Good afternoon members,
I am in the process of selling a number of duplicate meteorite books as a
group and will entertain the price off list. They are going to be sold as a
group and will not be sold separate. I am offering these to the list group
first, and if not sold, well lets just say I'd hate to see them go on Ebay.
Here then are the following books for sale, with conditons, etc.
1) Catalog of Meteorites in the collections of Arizona State University, 1976
including Ninninger Meteorite Collection by Charles Lewis and Carleton
Moore
Excellent condition, paperback.
2) Stones From the Stars - The Unsolved Mysteries of Meteorites, by T.R.
LeMaire
1980, Excellent shape, w/ dustjacket.
3) Meteorites Stones from the Sky, by R.V. Foder, 1976 / Ex Lib. book. Lots
of great B&W photos. Childrens Book. Good Shape.
4) Thunderstones and Shooting Stars, By Robert T. Dodd, 1986, Hardcover,
Ex-Library. Only one person apparently had taken this book out from library
(one date stamped), so it is in Excellent condition.
5) Meteorite Craters by Kathleen Mark, New Hardcover book. Was a gift from a
family member, and I already had a copy.
6) Meteorites and Their Parent Planets by Harry McSween Jr. Hardcover /
Ex-Library book. Had never been taken out of library (no book stamp dates)
Excellent condition.
7) Minerals from the Earth and Sky #3 in the Smithsonian Series G.P. Merrill
About 6 years ago, I went to the Brandeis University book sale. This sale is
listed as worlds largest used book sale. I found two complete Smithsonian
Sets, new, still in their cardboard carriers. I was fortunate to get the #3
volumes without having to buy the entire collection. This volume is dated
1944, and as you can tell by now, is in prestine condition.
8) Our Stone Pelted Planet by Ninninger. This book was autographed by
Ninninger in February 1949. As the above book is in prestine condition, this
one is not. While every page is readable, there is heavy water damage. I used
this book more as a collection "filler" until a better copy came along. Still
usable though, and it does have the autograph.
9) Out of the Sky and Introduction to Meteoritics by Ninninger. Paperback,
Very Good condition. Because the binding and pages are in such great shape, I
really can't tell if this book was ever read by the original owner.
10) The Fire Came By, The Riddle of the Great Siberian Explosion. by John
Baxter and Thomas Atkins. Nice book about the 1908 Tungusta event. 1976 A bit
dated but a nice addition to any collection. Book in excellent shape. Dusk
jacket complete, but worn with one small rip.
11) Cosmic Collisions by Dana Desonie / from Scientific American series.
Smaller book 128 pages. Easy content. 1996.
OK...there you have it. All 11 books. No duplicates of Krinov unfortunately.
But you know the value of the above. I know the value of the above. Go to
either Amazon or Barnes and Noble and check out the rare book sections for
used books on meteorites and you get the idea.
Please contact me offline if you would be interested in buying this lot. I
have a minimum amount in mind in which I will let these go for, and I will
place a posting to the list on January 1, if the collection has or has not
been sold. I will acknowledge each bid privately. Winning buyer will need to
add $10.00 for postage.
Best to all of you this Holiday Season, and may 2002 be equally wonderful to
you all.
