It is really a privilege to be able to have the members of this list as a
resource. Because of a discussion I was subject to with a person for whom I
have the highest respect, it was important to me personally to survey this
group to find a % that recognized the phrase "emerald rough."

About 95% of an exceedingly large (my apologies to those I haven't personally
responded to, it's overwhelming) survey correctly identified "emerald rough"
as a lapidary term for "emerald in its natural form". Many of you were far
more specific, thanks for the enlightenment.
