I can vouch for the beauty of Sanibel Island. As a young teen, my parents usually arranged for us to spend a week or two there each fall at the Surfrider Resort, about 2 mi. up the beach. Don't forget watching alligators at the J.N. "Ding" Darling Nature Reserve, and fishing for conch in the canal! You will also develop the "Sanibel stoop" from beachcombing for an incredible selection of shells.
