hi all, cabochons are used in jewerally as stones that don't let
light pass thru them most commonly cut oval and have a dome shape, i
after a few begining tries decided to have a go at cutting / grinding /
polishing a chondrite into a cab. obsidian a volcanic glass is mid-range
in ease or dificultly, moon stone is really soft, easy, it was strange
to find out that ordinary chondrite is under obsidian to work with.
chondrite has a tendency to crack while cutting with a rock saw which is
bothersome. i'm taking silversmithing at my rock club and if i stay with
it maybe later i'll be making cosmic jeweraly, something else to do with
meteorites!
