Hello, Everyone,

every Australian Meteorite is subject to a permit, if you take or send the meteorite, even for a limited time (display or so), out of this great country of ours.
However, for most of the wider distributed with a minor scientific value some ouf our museums issue us a  permit, for the others trade only within Australia is permitted.
These permits are required as part of the UNESCO Movable Cultural Heritage Act and is not only applicable for Australia.
Ebay is giving you some information about questionable items at this URL:  http://pages.ebay.com/help/community/png-items.html
and in particular here:  http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/cth/consol_reg/pomchr502/sch1.html
I suggest to check if your country has signed the UNESCO Act and to make yourself too familiar with, what you are allowed to export.

Best regards from DOWN-UNDER,

BTW:  Export restricted meteorites in my website are displayed in Australian Dollars compared with the ones with permit in U.S. Dollars.

Hello Everyone,

Is it illegal to export Australian meteorites?  I thought they could be exported with the proper permits.
