Hello,
I have once again found an old meteorite newspaper
article...this one on the Sikhote-Alin meteorite.
Paper is "The Mainichi" an occupied Japan newspaper
in English. Dated Sunday, June 22 1947. (Note: Occupied by American forces).
"1,000-Ton Meteorite Drops In Soviet
Area"
"MOSCOW, June 20 - A huge meteorite weighing 1,000
tons has dropped in the Far Eastern area of the Soviet Union. Soviet
Scientist have been dispatched to investgate."
Not much of an article. Not sure why
either. Russia was not on "good terms" with the Americans after the war
but the Berlin Wall was not built untill 1961. So why take 4 months to
tell the world in two lines that a meteorite fell? Any
thoughts?
