NASA COOPERATING IN INVESTIGATION OF THEFT

     The FBI and NASA Office of Inspector General today 
announced the arrest of three student employees of the NASA 
Johnson Space Center, Houston, in connection with the theft 
of lunar and meteorite samples.

The employees -- Thad Roberts, Tiffany Fowler and Shae Saur -
- were summer employees and have been dismissed from their 
respective student employment programs based on their 
involvement in the case. 

Johnson Space Center notified the FBI and NASA Inspector 
General of the possible theft on July 15. Further inquiries 
about the investigation should be directed to the NASA Office 
of Inspector General (Paul Shawcross at 202/358-2558) or the 
Federal Bureau of Investigation (Sara Oates at 813/272-8236).
