The trouble with many of these theories (Nemesis star, iron sun, etc.) is that they are on the wacko fringe. The evidence for them is not sufficiently established yet that they can be taken as a serious challenge, which is not to say that they are completely ridiculous. There needs to be more research by independent groups, and the data need to be checked against each other and build more of a case before these theories will get anywhere near mainstream thought. Go, scientific method!
