Hi Walter,
I store my membrane box micros in a couple of wooden cigar
boxes that I was given. The depth was perfect for the m-box to sit up on end. Of
course I can't readily see the specimen but I can see the label. I tape a small
label to the side of the m-box which has been working fine. As the lid of the
m-box attaches to one side of the box, the tape doesn't interfer with me opening
the m-box should I desire to open it. Initially I was sent a few specimens in
m-boxes and didn't like them, but I later acquired several crusted micros and
was happy with the m-boxes as it allowed me to see the crusted backs. You can
also sneak a slightly larger piece in the m-boxes than in the small specimen
boxes.
I also had a couple iron micros in the small display boxes
that got incipient rust spots. After I cleaned them up and wiped with a thin
coat of gun oil, I put them in m-boxes. Haven't had any problems with those
since. I think the m-boxes might have a tighter seal.
Regards,
Frank
