FALL OF A METEORITE A meteoric stone is said to have fallen on the evening of Oct. 7th near the town of Norwood, Mass. It was about two and a half feet long, one feet to one foot and a half wide and one to one and a half thick. Its weight was about 250 lbs. The stone is crystalline but seems to be like ancient lava. The gray stone is about as hard as rock crystal and has a slight salty odor. The stone has a mich corrugated surface. The bolide in falling had broken the bars of agate and penetrated the ground to the depth of three feet: subsequent enquiry verified the fall of the meteorite as occuring at 6:15 on the evening of Oct. 7th. The fall of the meteor or so-called shooting-star was seen by several passers at that time. The stone was still warm when found in the morning.
