Hello Tom and list, Tektites are very interesting and sometimes puzzleing. As another list member noted they did "fall from the sky". I have been making my way around to all the major meteorite collections on display in the United States, and they always seem to have a few tektites.
Kinda related to tektites, is meteorite impactite, which myself and several other list members also collect. If one was to limit themselves to just three different impactites, then I would suggest Ries Suevite, Sudbury Melt Glass, and Sudbury Black Onaping. All which can be purchased from a number of sellers on eBay at very affordable prices. Impactites can also be purchased through a number of websites, such as fellow list and IMCA members, Ron Hartman's Meteorite1.com, Anne Black's Impactika.com and Geoffrey Cintron's Islandmeteorites.com.
