Hi Ron:
Yes it seems Mark needs to dig into the current literature on the subject a
bit more deeply.  There are numerous references dealing with mammalian
species survival during and following the impact winter.  Get on GEOREF and
search for K-T.

As for Fassett's discovery, he presented his findings at the previous to
last GSA convention in Boston. You can probably find his abstracts on the
web.
It is interesting, but does not harm the impact theory (of which I am a firm
believer).

Well, there you go then. Mark was drawing conclusions on 'facts' or
assumptions that weren't correct.

That is interesting. Is this a recent finding?  I guess maybe then a few
dinosaurs may have survived. But even if they did, that still doesn't hurt
the impact theory, and the fossil record clearly shows a massive
extinction event at the time of the impact.   There were survivors, and
the one thing they seem to have in common was there were small in size,
substantially smaller than the dinosaurs.

Incidently, what exactly is a Lazarus dinosaur?
