Hi Greg,

No, can't be tied to Comet Thatcher, unfortunately. The meteoroid came
from a direction less than 30 degrees elongation from the sun. The Lyrid
radiant was in a very different part of the sky at the time of the
fall.

Cheers,
Rob

Subject: [meteorite-list] CM CA-Meteorite Fall and the Lyrid Meteor Shower

All:
I would like to congratulate Robert Ward for his (out of this world) find, and
the best of luck to everyone else out in the field hunting.
Could this be part of the Comet Thatcher (C/1861 G1)? As this
'fall' occurred during the tail end of the Lyrid Meteor Shower. I have heard
some of the most primitive C-Chondrites may have come from comets.  Could this
help substantiate this?
Is there any way the main body could be traced back to the comet's dust?
This discovery is amazing... just when you think the best has happened,
something better occurs.
That N. American Lunar is on it's way... I just know it.
All the best,
Greg S.
