Hi Adam,
I am sorry to hear of the passing of your
mother.
Last May, my mother passed away after batteling
cancer for
three years so I understand your feelings.
Take all the
time you need to get your projects going again
but
one thing that helped ease the pain is to resume
with
your activities as before.
If I can help out in any way, please
do not hesitate to call upon me.
Best wishes,
-Walter

Subject: Re: [meteorite-list] Will not be
able to respond to emails
Dear List Members,
Thank you for your patience regarding my brother
Greg and my own inability to respond to emails for the last month. My
mother has been battling cancer for about the last year and took a turn for
the worse recently. My brother and I agreed that both of us should not
leave the country at the same time in case a situation such as this arose so
that one of us could be nearby to offer comfort in her time of
need.
Sadly, she passed away on the morning of the 12th
of this month, the same day my brother was due to return from an expedition in
central Africa. It is my belief that she was trying to hang on until he
made it back safely. Unfortunately when I tried to recall him from
the field he was four days by vehicle from the nearest airport so could not
return in time to say goodbye himself. I want to thank publicly team
members Al Lang and Dave Marsocci for acting as a surrogate family while on
this pioneering expedition and trying to provide emotional support to
Greg. It showed me that a team can be more than a group of people in
pursuit of a treasure.
As for me, time seemed to stop a month ago.
I returned home a couple of days ago and saw the many projects we were working
on halted in midstream. The feeling I can only describe as a sad haze is
starting to lift. We are having a hard time reactivating these
projects but know that they may provide a needed distraction while we come to
grasp with our emotions. Although time stopped for us the rest of the
world has moved on. I am saddened even more that our nation has
moved into a state of war during this time period.
I am thankful for all the support the meteoritic
community has given us while we were away. I am also thankful that two
separate pioneering teams we were involved with on two separate
expeditions to two different unexplored areas have returned home
safely.
It is our plan to move forward and find comfort
in the avocation and pursuit of meteorites, our favorite subject.
Kind Regards,
Adam Hupe

Subject: [meteorite-list] Will not be
able to respond to emails
Dear List Members,
I have been checking my emails only a couple of
times a week because I have had to temporarily relocate to another city
because of a family emergency. If any of you have been trying to get
through to me or my brother Greg, I am sorry that we have not been able to
respond. I only have a limited amount of time to address each email
and I am falling behind. I may have communications set up more
directly later in the week at the new location. My brother was due
back on the 12th from Africa but I am trying to recall him sooner because
this emergency affects him as well.
I hope anybody who has been trying to get a
hold of us understands and I apologize if this has caused any
inconvenience. I ran out of time trying to email everybody back and
thought the list would be a good place to get the word out.
Thank you everybody for your
patience.
All the best,
Adam
