My experience has been when high monetary values are attached to any object or pursuit, governments will quickly become interested. They cant help it, controlling and taxing everything is in their nature. These are some tough new rules that all of of us now have have live by. We can thank the recent popularization of meteorite collecting/hunting in the media for making all of us who pursue a wholesome avocation look like poachers! Now the BLM has the tools necessary to wipe out field gathering all together. Once tighter rules are in place, it is much easier to change them to state "No meteorite collecting whatsoever." I see this happening very soon. I have already been through all of this as a treasure hunter and had to abandon that hobby over ten years ago. We will soon join the ranks of artifact, treasure and fossil hunters. Thank you to everybody who made this possible. I was hoping for another decade of unimpeded hunting.
