Hello Zelimir,
thank you for correcting my mistake.

It's funny how the same words have different meanings in various languages and since I'm bilingual I should have know better and checked first.

Under these circumstances I will reconsider the purchase of the painting.

Thanks again and all the best.

Hi Bill,

This painting by Poyet does not represent a meteorite fall but a
lightning strike (in Fench "éclair"), more precisely a globe lighting
("éclair en boule".
The word "trajet du météore" (in the figure caption) literary means
"path of the meteor".
Though, in French, "meteore" does not designate a meteorite but a
meteor (meteoric phenomenon, such as rain, hail, gale, thunder,
lightning....)

But you are also free to collect paintings of terrestrial meteoric
(not meteoritic) phanomena of course....

A happy New-Year to all the List with a lots of meteor(ites) of any
kind to fall into your yards...

Hi Bill, listoids,

http://tinyurl.com/a7yh8f9

Here is another painting by Poyet of a meteor fall.

I personally like paintings/drawings that relate to meteors and since the price seems to be reasonable I might order it.

Cheers

Thanks Werner,

I'll spend some time researching the artist. He must have been inspired.

Best to you,
Bill

Hello Bill, listoids,

http://kgs.uky.edu/kgsweb/olops/pub/kgs/sp01_12.pdf

Go down to page two, there's a photo and a description of the painting. It seems it doesn't relate to a specific fall since there was none in France in
the year 1883.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

A happy and healthy new year to all of you.
