Hello Listers,

I agree, this is a Hammer Meteorite  Fall but I would go further with that
phase and call it a Hammer Shower Fall cause 100's and 100's of hammer stones :)

Subject: Re: [meteorite-list] Chelyabinsk - Hammer?

Hi Juris & others interested,
Mike Farmer tells me hundreds if not thousands of stones
Have been recovered from roofs (but mixed in with all others).
As for the shockwave question....debatable. Carancus in Peru
Had a shockwave that killed a llama and a ewe, but also had ejected
A mudball filled with meteoritic fragments hit the roof of a house.
(See photo and story about 1/3rd down the page at:

http://michaelbloodmeteorites.com/Hammers3.html

Under, CARANCUS)
So, given the roof stones and the woman struck, Chelyabinsk is
Definitely a hammer fall...though it remains to be seen if we will end up
With specimens KNOWN to be hammer stones. (Ironically, hundreds
Of hammer stones will end up in collections - but unidentified as such).
