Hello William and All,

I believe I have a visual of what you are looking for. I have a highly shocked (Shock level >6) ureilite, NWA 7195. I just took a couple quickie photos for you to show the fresh crust and a polished face. There is an abstract out that compares three different highly shocked ureilites, NWA 7195 being the most shocked. Here are the links to the photos and abstract:

Subject: [meteorite-list] Ureilite ablation

Hi All,
Do the diamonds in Ureilites undergo ablation, and if so, what does the crust on them look like? If not, then let me ask this, can someone hypothesize about what they'd expect an ablated diamonds crust to look like?
William
