Dear List Members,

I would like to announce a new and unusual 'dunitic' Ungrouped Achondrite meteorite that is almost entirely made up of olivine. It is NWA 7822 and was discovered in the Sahara desert in late 2012 and subsequently purchased at the 2013 Tucson Mineral Show.

The single stone weighing just 45.8 grams and almost completely covered in shiny black fusion crust has similar dunitic olivine mineral signatures to the Eagle Station pallasite, and oxygen isotope compositions are comparable to both CV and Eagle Station meteorites.

Official Meteoritical Bulletin entry for NWA 7822:

Since the meteorite was so small in size, there are only four slices available. If you are interested, be quick to check them listed here:

Have a great weekend!

Best Regards,
Greg
