The price on the ordinary chondrite that realized USD $105,939.00 should be .68/gram not 6.81/gram. I missed a zero while doing the calculation.

Wow, after following this auction I was surprised.

http://www.christies.com/results

The top items were a 434 gram Seymcham Pallasites sphere that sold for an amazing USD $303.08/gram ($131,535.00) followed by a NWA 155 kilogram, H6 ordinary chondrite that realized USD $6.81/gram ($105,939.00)

I believe the top price per gram honor went to a 6.43 gram NWA 8306 Lunar Meteorite which realized USD $2777.34/gram ($17,775.00)

In total, the entire auction only realized USD $820,895.41 with most key pieces failing to sell. I thought for sure somebody would pick up the Zagami Martian Meteorite Main Mass which seemed reasonably priced to me at around USD $250.00/gram, especially when a Pallasite that normally sells for around $5.00/gram realized over USD $300.00/gram if the auction results are not in error and the sale is completed.

Perhaps prospective buyers were not educated properly to the importance of some of these pieces or the venue was improper. In any case, the results were very surprising and unexpected to me since I have sold much more than the entire auction amount over the years on eBay.

Thank you Darryl.

But how do we see the hammer price on all those pieces?
Will Christie publish those prices? and where?
Thanks.

Subject: [meteorite-list] REMINDER: Christie's Auction Tomorrow

Hi,

CHRISTIE'S Auction Tomorrow in London. 2.30p / (GMT+1) Catalog – http://bit.ly/23DlL8D

It's worth noting...

— Several lots have no reserve;

— There is a benefit to those paying in US dollars. Due to currency fluctuations, CHRISTIE'S current USD auction estimates are about 8% lower than those printed in the catalogue. To track the current exchange estimates, go to the CHRISTIE'S website http://bit.ly/1qp6Osq and look at the “grid view” where the real-time dollar amounts can be compared with those in the downloadable e-catalogue—which, again, can be seen here: http://bit.ly/23DlL8D

Best of luck,

Darryl
