Hi Tom and List,

It's funny how the media always uses the highest per-gram price they
can find on the web and then multiply that times the entire weight of
the meteorite. The result is an astronomical value that is usually
nowhere close to what the specimen would be worth on the collector
market. I seriously doubt the finder made over $1,000,000 USD for that
wonderful stone.

Not to diminish the special nature of this meteorite or the
circumstances of the fall. It's a spectacular thing regardless of what
retail value the bloggers arbitrarily attach to it for clickbait
purposes.
