A Wonderful Meteor DES MOINES, Ia., May 2. - A special to the leader from Emmettsburg, Ia., says: At half-past five o'clock yesterday evening the northwestern heavens became suddenly illuminated, and immediately all eyes were cast in that direction. A large ball of blazing fire was seen traveling with lightning-like rapidity towards the earth, leaving in its a path a beautiful wreath of smoke which remained an object of curiosity of several minutes afterwards. Several minutes after the appearance of the meter, a loud report was heard which caused the earth to shake and tremble vigorously and startled the observers.
