This is the third great meteorite to fall in Siberia in this century. Last year, one of the biggest ever known fell in a remote mountainous wilderness north of Vladivostok. Peasants saw a huge fireball hurtling through the air on a sunny morning, its red tail leaving a broad smoke trail.
