To all,
Since having seen this, I too must agree with Chris Sharpe "casper
@cooloola.net."
I have not personally met these people, but I only know them through
communications on the net. This kind of "humor" I think crosses the line
in my thinking. None of the people represented are "public
figures"... How they take it depends on them I suppose... They might take it
lightly and laugh, but then again, the site does not go away, it is there as
long as one cares to visit... They can even copy it and spread the lampoon
around... And when does the laughter turn into offense and
ridicule?
When Chris wrote:
"I just want to say that I was extremely upset at this web site. It
smacks of bullying and the worst sort of arrogance and is the sort of thing
that should have been left behind in the schoolyard.
Anyone that thinks
its funny to laugh at other people like this has yet to meet
maturity..."
It struck a chord in me. It is exactly what I feel.
But taking the issue of Iraq into this... Humm... we are all losing people in
that one. We are perhpas at the verge of another World War, if so,
many more lives will be at stake. In this, I like to
keep the "humor" on the politicians, rather than nobodies like us.
And when Chris wrote:
"This is an example of why scientists and researchers no longer
contribute to this list in the manner they used to."
Right, very right. Other than Ron Baalke and a couple of others, we
have lost the real input from the scientific community that we once had.
In this, WE are the joke.

Anyone that thinks its funny to laugh at other people
like this has yet to meet maturity. 27 Italians lie recently dead in Iraq
and you scoff at Matteo. Grow up, get some sensitivity.
This is an
example of why scientists and researchers no longer contribute to this list
in the manner they used to.
